End of Year SMARTR Outcome

By Spring 2019, all students will demonstrate their POG Communicator Attributes/Skills as measured by 70% of students scoring 12 of higher on the included POG Communicator Student Self-Assessment Rubric.

Strategy 1

  • Students will be exposed to literacy and literacy strategies in all subject areas to support them in improving their communication skills.

Strategy 2

  • Each discipline will focus on specific attributes/skills within the Communicator rubric.

Strategy 3

  • Students will continue to receive support in literacy, which will improve their skills in communication in all content areas.

Strategy 4

  • Students will develop communication skills through Project Based Learning opportunities.

End of Year SMARTR Outcome

By Spring of 2019, the Mathematics Performance (Based on data through the 2017-2018 school year from the VDOE Accreditation Report) for Students with Disabilities on the Math SOL test will increase from 58.33% to 70% by June, 2019

Strategy 1

  • The math department will implement Math 180 in Learning Seminars with specific students based on data.  Data reviews will be on-going and student schedules will be adjusted accordingly.

Strategy 2

  • Implementation of The Engagement Model (Math Workshop Structures)

Strategy 3

  • Implementation of an evidence based program for students with disabilities in self-contained classrooms.

Strategy 4

  • Implementation of Power Math Class

Strategy 5

  • Provide quarterly planning days for Collaborative Teams to meet.  CTs will discuss data, unpack standards, and look at available resources.

Strategy 6

  • Implementation of MTSS/RI protocols and structures to support student achievement.

Strategy 7

  • Select teachers and math data specialist will visit other middle schools to observe the workshop model and intervention exemplars.

Strategy 8

  • After School teacher support will be available through Academic Overtime, and opportunities for supervised work completion and/or technology usage will be available in Power Hour during the After-School Program on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Strategy 9

  • The math department will connect with the Office of School Support to look at additional resources available within FCPS.

End of Year SMARTR Outcome

By Spring of 2019, the Reading Performance (Based on data through the 2017-2018 school year from the VDOE Accreditation Report) for Students with Disabilities on the Reading SOL test will increase from 59.17% to 75% by June, 2019.

Strategy 1

  • Implementation of Lexia Power-Up Blended Learning Program to increase reading proficiency.   This program will be utilized in all English classes and selected Tier 2 interventions.

Strategy 2

  • Implementation of The Engagement Model. (Workshop structures)

Strategy 3

  • Implementation of flexible groups for PowerUp intervention during Learning Seminar based on Lexia Power Up data.   Data reviews will be on-going and student schedules will be adjusted accordingly.

Strategy 4

  • Implementation of Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention classes:  Action Literacy, Read 180, and Reading.

Strategy 5

  • Continue implementation of Sustained Silent Reading time in Learning Seminars.

Strategy 6

  • Provide quarterly planning days for Collaborative Teams to meet.  CTs will discuss data, unpack standards, and look at available resources.

  • Implementation of MTSS/RI protocols and structures to support student achievement.

Strategy 8
