The SCMS Science Olympiad is dedicated in improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers. 

These goals are accomplished through classroom activities, research, training workshops, and the encouragement of intramural, district, regional, state and national tournaments.

SCMS Science Olympiad seeks to build excitement in STEM by offering fun and rewarding tournaments for middle school students.

• Provide age-appropriate, collaborative and hands-on events and experiences across a wide breadth of STEM disciplines and topics.
• Provide students with an exciting competitive tournament in the school invitationals and regionals that offered thru the Virginia Science Olympiad (VASO).
