At their July 14 meeting, the Fairfax County Public Schools School Board recognized South County Middle School’s 10^th Anniversary. Present at the meeting were members of the South County Middle School administration. The School Board’s Resolution:

RESOLUTION HONORING SOUTH COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL

WHEREAS, South County Middle School, proudly celebrated its 10^th anniversary on May 10, 2022, and its foundation built on the mission of its first Principal, Marsha Manning, to produce “Capable, Connected, and Contributing” citizens for a global society; and

WHEREAS, for 10 years, South County Middle School has provided a positive learning environment by providing an academically challenging education to students through general education, an Advanced Academics Level IV Center Program, an Honors Program, and a Special Education Program; and

WHEREAS, South County Middle School works in partnership with faculty, parents, students, Parent Teacher Student Organization members, and the community to benefit student success and achievement in the classroom and on the school grounds, by providing students with access to a wide variety of elective offerings through Fine and Performing Arts, Career and Technical Education, and World Languages Programs; and through diverse and robust after school programs; and

WHEREAS, the dedicated faculty of South County Middle School continues to stay abreast of technological changes and use technology to support the 21^st century learns, with each student receiving an FCPS-issued laptop to access dynamic resources and participate in learning tailored to the student’s individual needs; and

WHEREAS, South County Middle School continues its mission under the leadership of Principal Peter Kownacki, taking great pride in displaying the HORSE character traits of Honesty, Ownership, Respect, Service, and Effort;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED  that the Fairfax County School Board honors South County Middle School on the occasion of its 10th Anniversary, commends the school on its history of providing educational excellence and enrichment opportunities to the students and staff, and conveys its most heartfelt best wishes for a successful anniversary celebration.
