SCMS School Supply List (PDF)

In an effort to not have you buy anything that your student will not need, we are providing this list of very basic supplies that are applicable to all students. Additional supplies will be requested by individual teachers the first week of school.

Supplies all students will need

• Loose leaf paper
• Pencils (#2 Lead)
• Erasers
• Pens (blue or black ink)
• Pens for grading (red or green)
• Colored pencils
• Glue sticks
• Highlighters
• Ruler
• Pencil Sharpener (personal size one that captures the shavings)
• Zippered Pencil Pouch
• Earbuds/Headphones (only buy cheap ones!)

Other commonly requested items are listed below. This list is not all inclusive but gives you some idea of what additional supplies may by some of our teachers.  Our suggestion is to hold off on this kind of supply until the first week of school.

• Marble Composition Book
• Binders
• 3 subject or 5 subject spiral notebook
• Dividers

Backpacks

While backpacks are a part of the school experience, backpacks are not permitted in any of the middle school classrooms, the cafeteria, gymnasium or other instructional areas.  Backpacks are used to transport things to and from school. When backpacks are brought into the building in the morning, they are to be put away in the student’s locker.  When the school day ends, backpacks are used to transport items home. Thus, it is imperative that the backpacks bought to school must be able to fit in a student’s locker – backpacks on wheels will not fit.  Please consider this items when purchasing a backpack to use for transporting your student’s supplies.
