Self Advocacy
Self Advocacy at SCMS
One of the most important life skills a person can possess is the ability to effectively communicate to others his or her concerns, needs, or desires. This skill is known as the art of self-advocacy. People who are able to advocate for themselves tend to be better at accessing resources for help, making quality decisions, and successfully navigating through their academic careers and lives. At South County Middle School we are working with students to develop and strengthen their self-advocacy skills.
Students received a lesson on self-advocacy in September during Learning Seminar and SCMS Parents viewed the presentation during Back to School Night. The video presentation is linked above. We look forward to working with families to strengthen students’ self-advocacy skills. Please contact your child's counselor or teachers with any questions.
